What should we expect with a family session with you?
To have a good time! I like to get kids laughing, let them play, and I want YOU to play with them. The best shoots are when you can be lighthearted and playful with your kids. I’ll always give direction for posing, I don’t expect you to know what would look right, but a good shoot is reliant on you guys getting in there with the kids. Feel super awkward and get the nervous giggle? Great! It makes for even better pictures if people can laugh!
What do you do if my kids are crazy and running around?
Follow them with my camera! I know it can be stressful for parents when they want their kids to be not their best behavior for the shoot. Honestly, let them play! Obviously we don’t want to let them run wild so they aren’t in any pictures. But it’s ok if your kids are squirmy and giggly. The gigglier the better! My favorite pictures are of kids letting loose a bit and really being themselves. And truthfully, a little candy bribe (or ice cream after the shoot) is never a bad idea!
What happens if it rains?
I look ahead at the weather, if it’s a really gray, dull day or it’s clearly going to pour, I will re-schedule the shoot. I know you have a vision in your head of the perfect family pictures, and I want you to have them! It’s always better to wait for that beautiful golden light if we can. If it’s not possible for you to reschedule, we wing it! They always turn out great regardless.
