This was the second birth I’ve shot for this amazing woman. She was there to help delivery 2 of my 4 children and I’ve been there to photograph the birth of both of hers. Our daughters even share a birthday.
Birth doesn’t always go the way you have it planned in your mind, and that’s ok. This little baby just didn’t want to come out at home so we all transferred to the hospital and he decided he would come out there just fine. It was my first time seeing a hospital birth and it felt so different than a home birth or birth center. But either way, everyone was healthy and safe and that’s all that mattered!
I’m always so happy to get to witness parents see their child for the first time. To watch a mama work so so hard, harder than her body has ever worked before, to bring that baby here to them. It’s beautiful and perfect, regardless of how it happens.
