We had the best kind of problem with this wedding- too many awesome photos. I love that problem!! We met Rachel and Brent almost a year ago, before we even moved up to Washington. It was one of those instant connections with them, we ended up talking for about an hour and a half. Rachel found us when she saw mine and Grayson’s wedding on a wedding blog and said our wedding was exactly what she wanted her wedding to look like. And it was! It was AWESOME!! It was like shooting the even cooler version of our own wedding! It was so funny, before we went out to see the reception area all set up she grabs me and says “just a warning before you go out there, it looks a lot like your wedding”… I’m ok with that! Same colors, same theme, birds, wood, fruit, colored jars, vintage plates and home made desserts. It was glorious!!!! I loved it, I was having a field day shooting the details.

    Anyway, the day was great. Met some awesome people, took some photos in the photo booth, and had the most amazingly delicious cookies I’ve ever had.. {I want the recipe Rachel}. So we loved Rachel and Brent! I did feel some slight pressure shooting the wedding of a wedding photographer, but they were so excited to have us there and that took the pressure off. The Clarke Estate was beautiful, I really felt like I was at my own wedding {AND it was 2 days before our one year anniversary!! wooooooo!!}

So here are the photos, we love this wedding so enjoy!!

Rachel is a hair stylist so she had this hair dryer, I thought it was cute!

    so stinkin pretty

First look- it was such a good one!!!

So I thought it would be a good idea to take these shots in the leaves, turns out they were swarming with spiders… everyone else found out when I was running away like a prancing horse, screaming “the spiders!! They’re everywhere!!!” So Brent simply carried Rachel- quick fix.

I saw these amazing yellow chairs across the way and needed to shoot with them… they’re yellow!

We wanted to take this tree home and plant it in our living room, so pretty.

I loved these dresses… I want to buy it! Anthropology!

Those cookies in the middle- so amazingly delicious.

Ok, THIS guy.. he was awesome. ALL he wanted to do was “freak dance”.. “You wanna freak dance? I’m really good at freak dancing”.. told us all about how when he gets married, he wants to do it on Halloween and have a costume/freak dancing party. Best groomsman ever.

    some sweet photo booth action

If you want any tips from their wedding, here is what Rachel wrote for our post on Green Wedding Shoes:

“When we started planning our April 3rd, spring wedding we knew that we wanted to have a outdoor, relaxed day filled with friends , family and lots of love.  We wanted the day to reflect who we are, our style and personalities.  When we had to decide on a theme or colors, we had a ton of ideas… love birds, lemons, vintage, rustic, eclectic things and lots of color ( i love color) . The colors we focused on were a yellow, gray,  and hints on teal. When we started collecting wedding decor we started out thrifting like crazy and going to antique stores at any chance we could. Since I love antiques, and brent proposed in an antique store we definitely wanted some old things.

The venue we chose was perfect, it was outside with a ton of trees and bamboo. It was naturally beautiful which made it so easy to decorate.  I was a little obsessed with our tables and  I wanted them to be perfectly decorated.  We covered them with old lace tablecloths, with different dessert plates and forks from the 70′s.  The centerpieces were real wood pieces  ( cut down by a friend from northern california),  with antique mason jars, vases and medicine bottles filled with flowers.  Each table also had a wood framed picture from our engagement shoot and a pair of “lovebirds”.

Brent, myself and my mom  collected or made all the decor!

For the ceremony I wanted to keep it really simple.  We lined the aisle with lemons ,  and said our vows under a grapefruit tree.   We had a little old desk full of random size vases filled with ranunculus flowers, which was simple stunning. Our pastor was a really great friend of Brents, which made is so special for us.

We also had a couple friends do some art work,  Kelli Murray  did a painting of our save the date, and Mel Metz did a “thumb print tree” for  our bridal party.

One of our favorite memories of the day was looking around and seeing everyone we love,  friendships from different seasons in our lives,  all in one place. Brent and I felt so blessed to be surrounded by so many people who love us.

My favorite moment was starting to walk down the aisle with my dad. The string trio played “yellow” by Coldplay and everyone stood.  Looking ahead to have the man of my dreams waiting for me was an unforgettable moment.  My dad got tears in his eyes, and made me cry! It was a moment I will cherish always.

My I have to say to those that our planning, enjoy the process of wedding planning, it goes by so quickly, and so does the wedding day.  It is amazing when you put in a million hours of preparation and planning and then feel it unfold around you. It is SO fun!!! Your wedding day should be one of the best days of your life. So Enjoy & Relax.”

Hello, I can’t help noticing that the bottom right photo booth pic is one where they are imitating asian people. A little rascist, no?
